Tates is a trading name of Portslade Garages Limited which is an appointed representative of ITC Compliance Limited which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (their registration number is 313486). Permitted activities include advising on and arranging general insurance contracts and acting as a credit broker, not a lender.
We can introduce you to a limited number of finance providers and may receive a commission from them for the introduction. Your information may be passed to other departments within Tates and third parties, who may wish to keep you up to date on our products and other services, which we believe may be of interest to you.
In the event, you purchase a vehicle with Tates your information will be shared with the vehicle manufacturer, BDM-Voice our Follow Up Service Provider and the DVLA Vehicle Manufacturer and Trustpilot. MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Tates of Sussex Limited, and its subsidiary companies, slavery and human trafficking statement. It sets out the steps that Tates of Sussex Limited have taken and are continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.
Our business
Tates of Sussex Limited is the ultimate holding company with its Head Office in Newhaven, in East Sussex.
Tate Bros. Ltd is a property rental company.
Tates of Pyecombe Limited is the trading company for four garden centres in Sussex trading as ‘Tates of Sussex Garden Centres’.
Portslade Garages Limited, trading as ‘Tates’, is the trading company for the motor business. Tates have retailed and repaired new and used cars in Sussex since 1929. They also operate petrol filling stations including Spar shops.
Our supply chains include manufacturers of vehicles and parts, oil companies, shop and garden centre suppliers and organisations providing external services to our business.
Policies
We operate a number of internal policies to protect our employees and workers in our business and to ensure that we are carrying out our business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include a robust Recruitment Policy and a Whistleblowing Policy which encourages staff to report any wrongdoing which extends to human rights violations such as Modern Slavery.
A risk assessment has been carried out toassess and monitor our main risks.
Our Suppliers
We are monitoring the modern slavery statements of our major suppliers and our buyers are encouraged to inform us if they identify any risk of Slavery or Human Trafficking within the supply chain.
We have dealt with many of our local suppliers for many years and make our ethical standards very clear to ensure that their workers or those workers within the supply chain are not abused or ill-treated.
With regards to national and international suppliers we have a point of contact in the supply chain with whom we make aware of our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and our expectations that any supplier to the company is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships.
All Directors and relevant members of staff have been briefed on this policy. The policy was approved by the Board on 3rd April 2024 for the financial year ended 31st December 2023.
