Motability scheme – How it works

The Motability scheme has been designed to make staying mobile simple, and understanding the process of finding the right car and ordering it is straightforward. On top of a new car every three years, your plan will also cover servicing and maintenance, insurance, road tax, breakdown assistance and more. Here's how the scheme works.

  1. Choose your preferred vehicle

There's plenty to consider when deciding which car is right for your needs, and it's important to think about running costs as much as the vehicle's suitability for your individual requirements. At Tates we offer a wide range of vehicles from Citroën, DS, Kia and Hyundai, meaning city cars, saloons and SUVs can all be accessed.

  1. Find a dealer

There are almost 5,000 dealerships supporting the Motability scheme, so you've got plenty of options when it comes to applying. With Tates you benefit from so much more than just the scheme's advantages, as we employ specialist advisers and operate state-of-the-art servicing sites to maintain your vehicle throughout the agreement. We'll organise a test drive when convenient, and also inform you of any optional extras available to make your car your own.

  1. Order your vehicle

After settling on the right vehicle and dealership, a Motability specialist will complete your application online and send an acceptance letter with your Personal Identification number. You'll be informed of the estimated vehicle collection date, but as this can change it's worth remaining in contact with your adviser.
