Discover the Hyundai IONIQ 5

Some electric cars are versions of existing petrol models.

The IONIQ 5 was designed to be electric from the very beginning – and that makes a real difference.

Built on Hyundai's dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), it combines a long wheelbase and completely flat floor with impressive passenger space, advanced charging technology and distinctive styling unlike almost anything else on the road.

Add up to 354 miles of WLTP electric range and 800V ultra-fast charging and the IONIQ 5 is designed to make electric driving work for everyday life as well as longer journeys.

Choose Your IONIQ 5 Battery

The IONIQ 5 is available with two battery options, allowing you to choose the range and performance that best suits your driving.

63kWh Standard Range

The 63kWh battery is paired with rear-wheel drive and provides an excellent option for drivers who don't necessarily need maximum range.

It's particularly well suited to everyday commuting, local journeys and drivers who can conveniently charge at home.

84kWh Long Range

For drivers regularly travelling further, the 84kWh Long Range battery extends the IONIQ 5's capability considerably.

In rear-wheel-drive form, it can provide up to 354 miles of WLTP combined electric range.

The 84kWh battery is also available with all-wheel drive, adding a second electric motor at the front for increased performance and traction.

Whichever version you choose, the IONIQ 5 delivers the smooth, quiet and responsive performance that makes electric driving so enjoyable.

800V Ultra-Fast Charging

One of the IONIQ 5's biggest advantages is something you can't necessarily see.

Its sophisticated 800V electrical architecture allows exceptionally fast DC charging when connected to a suitable ultra-fast charger.

Rather than spending a long time waiting for the battery to recharge during a longer journey, the IONIQ 5 can add a substantial amount of energy during a relatively short stop.

The system can accept charging power of up to 260kW in optimal conditions, making the IONIQ 5 one of the faster-charging electric cars available.

For everyday charging, a compatible home wallbox allows you to conveniently recharge while the car is parked overnight.

Up to 354 Miles of Electric Range

With the 84kWh Long Range battery and rear-wheel drive, the IONIQ 5 can travel up to 354 miles under WLTP testing.

That makes it a genuine alternative to a petrol or diesel family car rather than an EV restricted to shorter journeys.

Of course, real-world electric range varies according to factors including temperature, driving style, speed, passenger and luggage load and use of heating or air conditioning.

But with more than 350 miles available under official testing, longer-distance electric driving becomes considerably easier.

Rear-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive

The IONIQ 5 gives you a choice of drivetrain as well as battery size.

Rear-wheel-drive models prioritise efficiency and range, making them particularly well suited to everyday driving.

Choose the 84kWh all-wheel-drive version and a second electric motor powers the front wheels, increasing total output to 325PS.

The AWD Long Range version can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.3 seconds, providing serious performance alongside the practicality of a spacious electric family car.

Concept-Car Styling for the Road

The IONIQ 5 still looks remarkably close to the concept car that inspired it.  Clean surfaces, sharp lines and distinctive Parametric Pixel lighting give it an unmistakable identity.  Flush door handles and carefully considered aerodynamic details help efficiency, while its unusual proportions disguise just how substantial the car actually is.  At 4,655mm long with a 3,000mm wheelbase, the IONIQ 5 creates an impressive amount of space between the front and rear wheels.

And it's that long wheelbase that helps make the interior so special.

An Interior Designed Around People

Without a conventional engine, gearbox or transmission tunnel to accommodate, Hyundai has been able to rethink how the IONIQ 5 uses its interior space.

The completely flat floor creates a spacious, open cabin, while the long wheelbase provides generous legroom for passengers.

Depending on specification, sliding rear seats allow you to adjust the balance between passenger and luggage space.

The centre console can also slide, helping create a more flexible environment between the front seats.

It's less like sitting inside a conventional car and more like travelling in a comfortable, modern living space

Relaxation Seats

Higher specification IONIQ 5 models take comfort another step further.

The front seats can recline significantly, with leg supports creating an almost weightless seating position.

It's particularly useful when you're parked and charging – instead of sitting upright waiting, you can properly relax.

The IONIQ 5 turns charging time into downtime.

Vehicle-to-Load – Power More Than the Car

The IONIQ 5 isn't just capable of taking electricity from a charger.

With Vehicle-to-Load technology – V2L, energy stored in its high-voltage battery can also be used to power external electrical equipment.

Depending on specification and connection, V2L can supply up to 3.6kW.

That could mean charging an electric bike, powering camping equipment, running electrical devices or even providing useful power when you're away from a conventional supply.

Your car effectively becomes a large mobile battery.

Technology at Your Fingertips

The IONIQ 5's modern interior is complemented by a comprehensive range of digital technology.

Depending on specification, features include:

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Bluelink® Connected Car Services

IONIQ 5 or KONA Electric?

Both are fully electric Hyundais, but they suit slightly different requirements. The KONA Electric is the more compact choice. It's easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces while still providing impressive range and everyday practicality. The IONIQ 5 is a larger, dedicated electric vehicle with significantly more interior space, a longer wheelbase and sophisticated 800V charging technology.

If you primarily want a manageable electric SUV for everyday life, KONA Electric could be ideal. If passenger space, long-distance comfort and ultra-fast charging are higher priorities, the IONIQ 5 really comes into its own.

Could the IONIQ 5 Be Your Main Family Car?

Absolutely.

With up to 354 miles of WLTP range, generous passenger and luggage space and ultra-fast charging capability, the IONIQ 5 has been designed to replace a conventional petrol or diesel family car rather than simply complement one.

For drivers able to charge at home, much of your everyday charging can happen while you're asleep.

And when you travel further, the combination of long range, EV route planning and ultra-fast public charging makes longer journeys increasingly straightforward.

Hyundai SmartSense Safety Technology

The IONIQ 5 offers an extensive range of intelligent safety and driver-assistance technology.

Depending on specification, features include:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist

  • Remote Smart Parking Assist

These systems provide additional support across everything from busy urban traffic to longer motorway journeys.

Hyundai Warranty & Battery Reassurance

The IONIQ 5 is backed by Hyundai's 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Its high-voltage battery is also covered by Hyundai's dedicated battery warranty, providing additional long-term reassurance when making the switch to electric driving.

Where can I charge my Electric Vehicle?

Charging electric vehicle couldn’t be easier

More and more motorists are choosing to drive electric and hybrid vehicles. As such, you’ll find plenty of charging points available across the UK, whether you’re in town, at work, or on the motorway.

Public Charging.

A vast number of public charging points can be found across the UK, making charging your electric vehicle easy. Currently, there are over 42,000 public connectors around Britain, in more than 15,500 locations such as shopping malls, public car parks and supermarkets. As such, you’re never far from a reliable power source.

 SEE PUBLIC CHARGERS

From Home

Charging your electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) at home is simple. You can either use a standard three-pin socket, or invest in a wallbox. The wallbox is a much faster solution, cutting charge times down by several hours. And with manufacturer deals or government incentives often available on wallboxes, it’s a cost-effective option too.

From Work

Many workplaces are starting to provide rapid-charging facilities for employees’ vehicles. Indeed, government help is available for businesses, such as the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS), which is provided by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEZ). If your workplace doesn’t yet have rapid charging, you can plug into a three-pin socket.
