Job Title: IT Support Technician (Tates Cars)

Job Overview:

An exciting opportunity for an IT Support Technician to provide support for hardware and software across our Sussex-based sites. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading systems such as PCs, terminals, phones, and printers to ensure optimal performance. The role requires effective communication and the escalation of complex issues to the Group IT Manager and Company Directors.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Install, upgrade, support, and troubleshoot hardware and software systems.
  • Troubleshoot EPoS, Windows, networking, and connectivity issues (LAN/WAN and VPN).
  • Maintain effective communication with staff and escalate issues as needed.
  • Participate in on-call support when required.
  • Ensure support issues are logged, prioritised, and resolved within SLA timelines.
  • Ensure the best value is obtained when purchasing equipment and services and get authority from the Managing Director.
  • Ensure the Tates IT systems comply with current legislation.
  • Work to the list agreed with the Managing Director
  • Comply with all Tates policies and procedures and the Tates Health and Safety policy.
  • If you discover any dangerous situations, take immediate action to make the situation safe, without endangering yourself, and report to the Property Maintenance Manager and any Director


Required Skills:

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent, prompt service, maintaining professionalism.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot IT issues in a busy environment.
  • ·Ownership: Take responsibility for resolving support calls until completion.

  • Technical Skills: Experience with Active Directory, networking, and remote access tools.

  • Software Knowledge: Expertise in Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and back-office applications.

  • Networking: Understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routers, switches, and firewalls

  • Vehicle Dealership/Petrol Forecourt Experience (Desirable).

Soft Skills:

● 1-2 years’ IT support experience (preferred).

● Ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and in teams.


Additional Responsibilities:

● Troubleshooting: Resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues.

● Helpdesk Management: Ensure requests are resolved within SLAs, providing regular updates.

● Infrastructure Management: Support and maintain secure, scalable IT systems.

● Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date system/process documentation.

● Project Support: Assist with IT project implementations and technical guidance.

● Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts/SLAs.

● Out-of-Hours Support: Respond to critical issues that affect business operations.​
